Summary

Repair of electric motors, pumps, fans, servomotors, gearboxes & similar rotating electrical equipment. Attend customers’ sites to fault find & remove and re-install equipment. Dynamic balancing, welding, machining, servomotor feedback test and alignment along with fitting and electrical skills.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Dismantling & assessing rotating electrical equipment.
  • Dynamic balancing impellers and rotors on our dedicated machine.
  • Fully testing electric motor windings with a range of specialist test equipment.
  • Removing and fitting bearings, seals and gears.
  • Assisting on site with repair of pumps and fan units.
  • Assembling motors, gearboxes & pumps and assisting with full final run test and checks.

  • Maintenance and operations engineering technician Level 3 qualification.
  • Apprentices must achieve level 2 English and Mathematics prior to taking the end-point assessment for the apprenticeship if they haven’t achieved them on entry.
  • Training schedule has yet to be agreed. Details will be made available at a later date.
