Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

  • The employer will provide the skills to be proficient within their production team, to learn the skills as an operator or inspector working within an SMT (Surface Mount Technology), PCB, Mechanical, Materials, Assembly environment.
  • The training scheme will provide a foundation for their products and customers, with the opportunity to progress to other areas within the Production team
  • You will work along side experienced operators who are responsible for setting up and operating a variety of automatic or semi-automatic machines including robotic assembly equipment used in the production of the company's product
  • This role will lead to the responsibility for the overall operation and care of potentially large-scale manufacturing machinery including actions such as, feeding materials for processing, adjusting settings, performing minor repairs, and pulling finished product from the line
  • The operators work from process sheets or written/verbal instructions given by the supervisor to perform production tasks
