Summary
We produce high-performance alloys and stainless steels to meet the demands of the world’s most challenging markets. You will be an important part of our Engineering function, playing a crucial role in the lifecycle management of our unique equipment. Designing and developing electronic circuits, devices and systems for a range of industries.

Your salary will increase annually. The current rates for our engineering apprenticeships are: Year 2 - £18980 Year 3 - Dependent on age Year 4 – Dependent on age

Liberty Steels operates over 24 hours and seven days a week. Applicants should be prepared to work shifts which can include weekend working. Shift allowances are paid on top of basic salaries. Days and times to be confirmed.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

Course contents
- How to comply with statutory requirements and stringent organisational safety requirements
- Producing components using hand fitting techniques
- Producing Electrical or Electronic Drawings using a Computer Aided Design (CAD) system
- Preparing and using lathes, milling and other general or specialist machines and High Tech equipment
- Wiring and testing electrical equipment, assembling and testing electronic circuits
- Using computer software packages to assist with engineering activities
- Producing engineering project plans
- Maintaining and improving electrical equipment and systems
- Project management in undertaking engineering activities
- Producing and working to engineering specifications and briefs, presenting and technical problem solving
- Scheduling and managing engineering activities
- Electrical and electronic product manufacturing and testing
- Demonstrating technical and commercial management in planning and managing tasks and resources
Your training plan
- The degree award is BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- You will attend Sheffield Hallam University on day release
- Support for your End Point Assessment
Requirements
Essential qualifications
A Level or equivalent in:
- Maths, Science or Engineering (grade BBC / Distinction Merit Merit)

Other requirements
Your Degree Apprenticeship will be based between our Rotherham and Stocksbridge sites where you will be placed in Technical attachment areas. It will also require you to travel to Sheffield Hallam University during term time in order to study a degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
