What you will do in your working day
The successful candidate will shadow a skilled fabricator, benefiting from their many years of skill and expertise and, work towards being able to (but not limited to):
- Using various tools and machinery by following health and safety procedures at all times
- Measuring and marking of the steel for cutting or drilling following design specifications
- Fabricating jobs from drawings
- Welding using multiple methods such as MIG and TIG
Other duties will include, keeping the workspace clean and tidy and other ad-hoc duties where required.
The training you will be getting
Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative apprenticeship standard which includes:
- Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills)
- Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
Learning will take place in the workplace with the need to attend training with NSEGTA.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
- The successful candidate will have the opportunity to progress into full time employment following the completion of the apprenticeship and / or another Apprenticeship as agreed with the company.
