Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Payroll Assistant at Debere based in Washington, Tyne & Wear. You will be joining a professional, friendly team who will be there to train and support you throughout your apprenticeship.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Processing payroll for clients
  • Liaising with clients on the telephone
  • Sending & receiving emails
  • Use of Microsoft Office to include: Excel and Word
  • Will be trained how to use bespoke company software (Sage 50 Payroll)
  • Data entry / working with accuracy

Applicants should have excellent IT skills and be keen to learn.

Probationary period applies / full training will be given.

Driving licence preferred but not essential.

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan

The successful applicant will work towards the Accounts/Finance level 2 Apprenticeship Standard.

Will be required to attend day release at Access Training on Team Valley, Gateshead.

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 6)
  • Maths (grade 6)

Other requirements

Please ensure that you can travel to the employers location for a 08.30am start. This role is initially a fixed term contract for the duration of the apprenticeship with a view to being permanent for the right candidate on successful completion of the apprenticeship programme.
