Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

DUTIES

  • Be proactive in the promotion of the welfare, health and safety of children and young people, including assisting in the maintenance of a safe environment for pupils and staff
  • Supports teaching staff with routine administration
  • Supervises and provides particular support for individuals and groups of pupils, including eg those with SEN, disabilities, personal needs, EAL ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
  • Assists with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes
  • Establishes constructive relationships with pupils and interacts with them according to individual needs

  • Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
  • Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
  • Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
  • Apply methods of formative assessment.
  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.

A bespoke programme of technical and vocational training.

More training information

The successful candidate will be assigned a dedicated work based trainer who will provide support and guidance throughout the course. This Apprenticeship requires attendance for classroom based sessions once per week at East Riding College .

GCSE in:

  • Maths (grade 4/C)
