Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
In this role, you'll be responsible for managing the complete lifecycle of our digital products, from inception to decommissioning. Working alongside experienced product managers, you'll develop a holistic understanding of the technology, data, and user needs required to deliver exceptional digital products that create value for our business and customers.
Your key responsibilities may include:
- Engaging with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to develop a compelling vision and strategy for your product, and effectively communicating these in the short and long-term
- Prioritising the delivery of value to users while balancing competing priorities and constraints
- Representing user needs throughout the product lifecycle, supporting a multi-disciplinary team to bring the product to life
- Developing and prioritising the product backlog, creating user stories, and making data-driven decisions
- Engaging with a variety of stakeholders, adapting your communication style as appropriate
- Developing an in-depth understanding of user needs and championing these throughout the product's delivery
- Encouraging user adoption and engagement through various communication channels
- Setting measurable goals for your product and reporting on progress against key metrics
- Supporting the vision, roadmaps, and delivery of other products within your portfolio
- Actively participating in product management communities, sharing your learning and celebrating the successes of others
- Continuously seeking feedback and using it to drive future product improvements
As a Digital Product Manager Apprentice, you'll have the opportunity to work across a diverse range of digital products. You'll develop a deep understanding of agile methodologies, user-centric design, and data-driven decision-making, as well as the technical and commercial aspects of product management.

Course contents
- Diagnose problems by breaking problems down systematically into component parts and identify the relationships between those parts.
- Reflect critically on results/data/insights to identify improvements.
- Utilise iterative and sequential methodologies as appropriate to develop products.
- Work within a multi-disciplinary team through two or more phases of the product delivery lifecycle.
- Manage the operational running of a live product or service.
- Identify, understand, and define problems, analyse and help to identify the appropriate solution using relevant methodologies, principles and approaches.
- Support the development of artifacts for assessment.
- Translate back log and roadmap, and show how it aligns to strategy.
- Identify users, who they are, and what their needs are, based on evidence.
- Define user stories, write stories and acceptance criteria.
- Engage various stakeholders, utilise the vision, goals, KPI’s and objectives for the product or service.
- Ensure methods and techniques for structured reviews are applied, for example but not limited to peer review, formal technical review, user research and testing.
- Utilise planning and prioritisation techniques to organise and manage the product backlog to deliver value and benefits.
- Produce reports, roadmaps, plans to report progress and support governance processes and stakeholder management at various levels within the organisation.
- Use product management life cycle tools and techniques. Where appropriate automate mechanical tasks such as scheduling, resource balancing, and time recording.
- Manage, mitigate and investigate product risks and ensuring product meets the need of its users.
- Use data to inform decision making.

Digital Product Manager Level 4 Apprenticeship Standard

You will gain a vast range of useful experiences and skills whilst working towards the Level 4 apprenticeship standard, Digital Product Manager. As a working student your focus is to complete your studies in your 20% off the job time by learning and developing your skills, knowledge and behaviours to work towards successful graduation. You will be set objectives and goals by your training provider and manager to support your studies.
You will build your skills over a 24-month period, starting in July. These skills will help you develop personally and professionally. Your apprenticeship will be made up of classroom/virtual based training to cover knowledge, on-the-job training at your Amazon base location, online learning as well as mentoring from our experienced team members.

More training information
- As well as learning key skills, you will be working towards the Level 4 apprenticeship standard in Digital Product Management.
- Training will be delivered in a mix of remote and face-to-face sessions.
- Each week Apprentices will be allocated time away from their day to day roles to work on their Apprenticeship studies.
- You will spend approximately 80% of your working week learning from skilled members of the team whilst supporting learning on the job.
- The apprenticeship will run for 24 months, at the end of which you will be eligible to apply for higher roles in relevant teams within Amazon or anywhere in the industry.
- This is the ideal opportunity to get valuable work-experience at Amazon, as well as gaining a relevant qualification funded by Amazon.
- Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- x5 including Maths and English (grade 4-9 (A-C) or above)
- Apprenticeship/1 x A Level in any subject/BTEC (grade Level 3)

Other requirements
This position will be based in a Corporate Office. We advise you to submit your application as soon as possible, as the roles will close once filled. We will be holding online assessments from November through to February, with assessment centres taking place between February and May.
