Summary

Responsible for supporting the Financial Reporting Manager in their day to day running of the Treasury, Regulatory and Statutory reporting functions. This will include helping to prepare documents in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio that can then be used to support decision making in the team each day.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Responsible for supporting the Financial Reporting Manager in their day to day running of the Treasury, Regulatory and Statutory reporting functions. This will include helping to prepare documents in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio that can then be used to support decision making in the team each day. Every day will be varied with an opportunity to experience a busy account payable, treasury and financial reporting function. There will be an opportunity to interact will all team members to understand and learn what they do as part of our process and control documentation plans.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journals and help create monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Help prepare paperwork needed for investment and foreign exchange transactions.
  • Support the invoice raising and cashbook completion process each day.
  • Prepare bi-weekly cashflow forecast
  • Run ad-hoc reports in Power-BI for the management team including helping prepare PowerPoint presentations.
  • Help prepare annual financial statements for some subsidiary entities.
  • Documenting controls in MS Visio to help the reporting manager with process improvements as part of the overall audit process
  • Be part of a team who periodically produce reports to meet business demands.
  • Any other ad-hoc accounting requests from management to support timely and high-quality financial reporting.

Course contents
  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE in:

    • 5 GCSE's including English and Maths (grade (A*-C/9-5 or equivalent))
