Summary

We are looking for two enthusiastic and motivated apprentice Early Years Practitioners to work at our exceptional school. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work with and learn from highly experienced staff and work across both our nursery provision and reception classes.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

To work under the guidance of the class teacher(s) and EYFS Phase Leader to support the delivery of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years and Foundation Stage. To complete all academic requirements of the apprenticeship.

MAIN DUTIES

  • To effectively deliver the Early Years Statutory Framework ensuring that the individual needs and interests of children in the setting are met, in conjunction with other team members
  • To keep accurate records of children’s development and learning journeys and share, as appropriate, with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life
  • To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents/carers to facilitate day-to-day caring and early learning needs
  • To act as a key person for a group of children
  • To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children having an awareness of any specific needs and family or cultural circumstances
  • To advise appropriate staff members of any concerns, e.g. over children, parents, the safety of the environment, preserving confidentiality as necessary
  • To be flexible within working practices of the setting, undertaking other responsible duties where needed, such as domestic tasks, preparation of food, cleaning resources and equipment etc.
  • To read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and the safe running of the provision
  • To develop your role within the team, especially with regard to being a key person
  • To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job
  • To uphold the school’s standards at all times, both in work hours and outside
  • To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times
  • To respond confidently and professionally to parents/carers, visitors and staff members at all times
  • To demonstrate commitment to gaining an Ofsted Outstanding Grade
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, whistle-blowing, security, confidentiality and data protection. Reporting all concerns to the appropriate person
  • Be aware that under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 all staff have a duty to assure reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others affected by their acts or omissions at work and co-operate in meeting statutory requirements
  • Ensure compliance with the Disability Statement, including the need to notify Personnel of any changes in circumstances.
  • The post-holder is required to respect the confidentiality of matters relating to pupils and other members of staff
  • The post holder must be aware of and comply with the school’s code of conduct including the school’s dress code
  • To identify own areas for professional development and commitment to the school’s ethos of educational lifelong learning.
  • To work within the school’s policies and procedures
  • To keep the Leadership Team accurately and robustly informed of the varying needs of pupils
  • To keep up to date with DfE policy and the school’s website so as to accurately inform stakeholders as needed

Course contents
  • Recognise when a child or a colleague is in danger or at risk of abuse and act to protect them in line with safeguarding policy and procedure.
  • Apply legislation, policy and procedure to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of children in the setting (for example, food safety, diets, starting solid food, allergies, COSHH, and accidents, injuries, and emergencies).
  • Apply the principles of risk assessment and risk management within documentation and practice.
  • Teach children to develop skills to manage risk and maintain their own and others safety.
  • Use a range of communication methods, including technology, with other professionals to meet the individual needs of the child.
  • Develop and maintain effective professional, collaborative relationships with others involved in the education and care of the child.
  • Undertake the role and responsibilities of key person.
  • Recognise and apply theories of attachment to develop effective relationships with children.
  • Provide sensitive and respectful personal care for children from birth to 5 years.
  • Advocate for all children’s needs, including children which require SEND or EAL support.
  • Promote and facilitate children’s interpersonal communication to develop their social interactions and relationships.
  • Support children to develop a positive sense of their own identity and culture.
  • Support children to understand and respond to their emotions and make considered choices about their behaviours.
  • Assess the responsiveness of the environment for effective child-centred experiences in line with curriculum requirements.
  • Create inclusive, child-centred, dynamic, innovative, and evolving physical environments both indoors and outdoors.
  • Create inclusive and supportive emotional environment that enables the child to feel safe, secure, respected and experience a sense of wellbeing; maintaining and prioritising the individual child’s voice.
  • Apply strategies that support children’s ability to manage change, transition, and significant events.
  • Analyse observation evidence to assess and plan holistic individual learning based on a comprehensive understanding of the child’s needs and interests.
  • Facilitate and support child-centred opportunities and experiences based on the setting's curriculum and pedagogy.
  • Provide adult led opportunities and experience based on the setting's curriculum and pedagogy.
  • Use reflection to develop themselves both professionally and personally.

    GCSE in:
