Summary

As an Apprentice Assistant Site Manager, you will shadow other roles to gain awareness of all site-based activities, as well as gaining an understanding of the whole housebuilding process. You will play a key role in quality control, health and safety, resource management and commercial controls.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Ensure everyone on site is complying with the company health and safety standards and processes, National House Builders Council (NHBC) standards, building regulations, and overall quality and presentation standards.
  • Ensure that the overall presentation and housekeeping of the site is maintained to the ‘Miller Standard’ and Miller Production Procedures
  • Liaising with other internal departments, external suppliers and partners to ensure the KPI’s are being achieved.
    Plan and arrange visits of NHBC inspection / Building Control to carry out stage inspections
  • Ensure that any customer complaints during the production cycle are promptly and properly investigated and the appropriate action is taken.
  • Liaise with the Development Sales Manager, Buying Department, customer and sub-contractors regarding the supply and installation of customer choices.
  • Assist the Site Management Team and Customer Service Manager to resolve any concerns or issues identified by the customer.
  • Assist the Site Management Team in the management of the quality of work carried out by the sub-contractors and materials supplied by the manufacturers.

Course contents
  • Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
  • Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
  • Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
  • Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
  • Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
  • Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
  • Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.

    You'll be undertaking the Construction Site Supervisor Level 4 apprenticeship Standard, including Functional Skills in English and maths if required.
