Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Highway maintenance Skilled Operative Level 2
- Functional Skills Maths and English if you do not have GCSEs in them
- Abrasive Wheels
- Level 3 First Aid at Work
- Manual Handling
- Reversing Banksman
- Streetworks (NRSWA)
- You will train in a 4 day block once a month
- If you are successful you will first have a full 2-3 week induction to get you ready to safely work on site with the gangs
- Work will include excavation, engineering, replacement and civil works as well as first time reinstatement and highways maintenance services - you will be trained for the relevant contracts you are working on.

Your training plan
- Your training will take place at our main depot in the north of London
- It will be 4 consecutive days a month and will be a combination of practical and portfolio building
- If you do not already have GCSEs in Maths and English we will support you on a one to one basis to gain these
- You will also complete other qualifications, courses and cards depending on which contracts you are working on
