At SCC we are committed to paying Foundation Living Wage as a minimum. Your salary as an apprentice will be £23,151 (pro rata) annually and may increase in line with any national rise in Foundation Living Wage.

What you will do in your working day
- To gather evidence as instructed by the training provider in order to compile a portfolio for end point assessment
- To undertake surveys, investigations and research, inspections, sampling, record keeping, report preparation, legal notices, schedules and correspondence as appropriate
- To liaise with and consult other City Council staff and external organisations in the interest of providing co-ordinated and effective services
- To advise members of the public, businesses and elected Members and others on any matter within the professional or technical remit of the postholder
- To record and maintain in an efficient and accurate manner any information or records required relating to casework
- To participate in meetings and working groups as required
The training you will be getting
Environmental Health Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard
- Studying towards the BSc Hons Environmental Health Practitioner (Level 6 degree Apprenticeship)
- Internal induction programme when starting employment with us
- The training schedule has yet to be agreed upon, further details will be made available at a later date

Upon completion, you will be a qualified Environmental Health Practitioner.
Although we can’t guarantee you a permanent job at the end of your apprenticeship, we will support you to apply for suitable roles within the council, and help make sure you are ready for a wider job search.
