What you will do in your working day

Peacocks Medical Group manufactures orthoses and custom-made footwear from our Newcastle upon Tyne facility to clients across the UK. We are a key partner across several NHS Trusts, with service contracts spread from the South Coast to the North East. 

We are currently recruiting for Apprentice Orthotic Technicians to join our Newcastle Manufacturing team (located close to Walkergate Metro & Benfield Road bus routes).  

In this role you will be trained in the manufacture of hand-made medical devices, such as insoles, shoes, braces, and adaptions for wheelchairs.

This is not a ‘typical’ manufacturing environment, and you will be expected to learn several traditional craft-based techniques using hand tools, so manual dexterity is preferable.

Main duties of the role:

·       Manufacture of Insoles/Orthotics

·       Administration of Insoles/Orthotics

·       Potential 3D Designing on CADCAM

·       Stock Control

The training you will be getting

You will be enrolled onto the Prosthetic and Orthotic Technician Apprenticeship Level 3 at the University of Derby. You will be required to complete 1 day a week of studies (based in the workplace or at home and online) in addition there is a 3 day residential course (based at the University of Derby).
