What you will do in your working day

With RNN Group support, this Apprenticeship will give you expert training alongside The Laurel Academy, to develop you into a professional School Receptionist.

This role will specifically develop your administration skills alongside increasing your knowledge of the education sector and supportive techniques.

This Apprenticeship will support you to be able to:

  • Provide routine clerical support e.g, photocopying, filing, faxing, emailing, and completing routine forms.
  • Ensure that everyone is dealt with in a courteous, professional, calm and friendly manner.
  • Provide an excellent customer service to parents, pupils, colleagues and visitors to the Academy.
  • Assist with student’s first aid and welfare duties, looking after sick students, liaising with parents/staff as required.
  • Assist with arrangements for visits by the outside Agencies, nurses, counsellors, photographer, etc.
  • Undertake typing, word processing and other IT based tasks.
  • Provide cover for reception duties, being the first point of contact for visitors, parents and pupils, answering routine telephone and face to face enquiries and the signing in and out of visitors.
  • Monitor levels of stationary supplies and order stock as required.
  • Maintain an accurate signing in record and issue security badges for all visitors to the academy.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality in all areas of work.
  • Understand and comply with the statutory guidance regarding safeguarding of children, always ensuring the safeguarding and promotion of children’s welfare, reporting any concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Officer at once.

  • Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
  • Functional Skills Maths Level 2 (If required)
  • Functional Skills English Level 2 (If required)
  • Monthly online sessions and termly face to face taught sessions -Training schedule has yet to be agreed. Details will be made available at a later date.
