What you will do in your working day
The PR & Communications Assistant will be required to undertake (but not limited to) the following occupational duties as part of their role:
- Administrative support – support the Press & PR Officer (and wider marketing team where necessary) with key administrative tasks e.g. spreadsheet management, uploading content to the back system, writing/circulating meeting notes/actions etc.
- Research - conduct research to help the team’s various marketing activities e.g. seeking out suitable influencers and brands to partner with, travel trends to be aware of, and possible awards to nominate the business for
Contributions:
- Be creative and proactive with ideas to assist with the various marketing activities e.g. concepts for press pitches, journal articles, or content for social media.
- When appropriate, assist with relevant writing tasks e.g. pulling together press pitches in line with a particular topic e.g. “the best homes to book for the summer holidays” or relevant journal article
- Reporting - assist with reporting on an ongoing basis e.g. monitoring the successes of various marketing campaigns e.g. influencer partnerships, and reviewing referrals (where our enquiries/bookings are coming from) etc.
The training you will be getting
- You will develop a wide understanding of Public Relations and the impact it has on businesses
- As a Public Relations & Communications Assistant, you will follow a Level 4 Public Relations Assistant apprenticeship standard, with a PRCA Qualification.
- This will involve “on the job” training, virtual visits from an Apprenticeship Coach, an internal line manager to provide ongoing guidance, online learning, and creating a portfolio of evidence
- Attendance to 50+ high-quality PRCA industry-training courses.
Functional Skills in maths and English if required - The apprentice will be working towards an End-Point Assessment (EPA) which will determine if he/she has the knowledge, skills, and behaviours listed in the PR & Communications Assistant Standard
