Summary

This is a rare opportunity to become part of the Derbyshire Constabulary "family" based at their Force Headquarters in Ripley. The purpose of these roles is to provide a customer focused, effective and efficient administrative support to the regional forces.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Plan and develop creative content in line with the brief and budget/costs
  • Interpret the strategy and objectives of the brand and align these to the content
  • Research, prepare and develop the media messaging to maximise audience engagement
  • Develop and create written content that can be used across a variety of media
  • Create visual and audio content that can be used across a variety of media
  • Store content securely and methodically to enable efficient access and retrieval
  • Collaborate with colleagues and clients to plan and align content delivery with business objectives
  • Manage content online using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the content produced against the original plan and recommend improvements
  • Undertake continuous professional development to keep up-to-date with trends and technology

  • Interpret the aims of the brief.
  • Research ideas and concepts to meet the brief.
  • Evaluate brand requirements and brand guidelines.
  • Prepare a mood board or other visual aid for the content to be created.
  • Present ideas, pitches and proposals for creative content to be further developed.
  • Storyboard and outline script their ideas for content to be developed.
  • Interpret data, consider its integrity and use it to inform content.
  • Develop accessible written content for different platforms and devices.
  • Apply best practice and inclusive language when creating content.
  • Write and edit copy or scripts for use on different channels and platforms.
  • Create or capture visuals and audio using standard packages and equipment.
  • Source, obtain and prepare media assets for use; using industry standard packages to adapt and edit content.
  • Use industry standard tools and content management systems to organise, structure and label content effectively, methodically and securely enabling efficient search and retrieval.
  • Identify and recommend the platform/s or channel/s to use for the media campaign.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, colleagues and suppliers, establishing and using professional contacts.
  • Engage and respond with audiences through social media, adapting content to respond to evolving circumstances.
  • Monitor user experience to ensure content is focused on maximising engagement.
  • Analyse the differences between audiences using audience segmentation techniques and data.
  • Use lessons learned to evaluate the success of the content and identify areas for improvement for future campaigns.
  • Use continuing professional development planning to support own current and future training and development needs.
  • Operate effectively within the production workflow to meet production timelines.

Your training plan

  • An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage, gain valuable work experience and industry specific competence.
  • You will be expected to work towards the Content Creator Level 3, with support from your employer and the Chesterfield College Group.

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)

Other requirements

Whilst not essential prior work experience in any type of role is preferred but not essential. This apprenticeship will not start until 1st September 2025. Once you have received a provisional offer of an apprenticeship, you will be required to undergo a full DBS background check before a formal offer can be made. Derbyshire Constabulary particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates as this group is underrepresented within our organisation. It’s a priority for us to have a workforce which reflects the communities we serve. The apprenticeship placement is within a civilian role and not for Operational Police Officer roles. After this apprenticeship
