What you will do in your working day

You will be trained using the latest diagnostic equipment providing you with the relevant skills to react to the ever-changing technological developments within the car industry. Day-to-day tasks will vary but will normally include, - servicing - MoT's - vehicle maintenance - observing and assisting technicians in all the above and tyre fitting.

  • Testing of parts and systems to ensure correct working
  • Following checklists to ensure all critical parts of vehicles are examined
  • Carrying out bumper-to-bumper overview, service, and inspection
  • Undertaking repair and maintenance of vehicle parts including clutches, gearboxes, tyres, brakes and suspension
  • Completion of paperwork for the customers and garage records
  • Maintenance of a clean and tidy work environment

The training you will be getting

Level 2 Autocare apprenticeship standard, including Functional Skills if required.

This programme includes:

  • Basic Mobile Air Conditioning Award L3 CG

You will work with expert assessors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession.

You will experience a blended learning model.

This programme is delivered via a day release delivery model which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at our engineering campus (NG17). This attendance is required during term time only.

You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.

At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged.

 

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Progression would be to L3 Motor Vehicle apprenticeship.
