Annual wage: £8,652.80 a year which is based on the school calendar of 38 weeks a year. The apprentice wage is £6.50 per hour in the first year.

Working week
8.15am - 3.15pm, Monday to Friday, with a day release to SGS College in Filton. Total hours per week: 32.5 hours a week Some additional hours are required for training, meetings at the academy which will be paid overtime to the Apprentice.

What you will do in your working day
Under the supervision of the Curriculum Lead, the Specialist Curriculum Support Apprentice (Creative Technology and Food) will support teachers to facilitate excellent teaching and learning within the department. They will provide classroom and technical assistance to prepare and maintain the necessary resources required to enable safe and engaging practical activities to be undertaken by staff and students. The postholder will maintain an appropriate health and safety culture ensuring that all relevant health and safety regulations and guidelines are always adhered to.
At all times, the post holder will be expected to work collaboratively with relevant colleagues to fulfil the requirements of the role and contribute positively to the effective teaching and learning within the academy.
Primary duties and responsibilities with include:
- Provide technical and practical advice and guidance to staff and students
- Demonstrate proper use of equipment to teaching staff and/or students as required
- Be present in the classroom, as required
- Communicate and demonstrate the safe usage of resources, machinery, and equipment to staff and students
- Ensure their safety and that of the working environment as required
- Understand the specific needs of learners and use strategies to support all learners to achieve their learning goals
- Promote engagement and teach learning behaviours to support the development of independent learners
- Establish positive relationships with learners and promote positive behaviours, consistently applying the school’s behaviour policy
- Support the social, emotional, mental health, wellbeing and personal care of all learners in line with organisational policy and procedures
- Deliver individual and small group teaching within clearly defined/planned parameters in partnership with the teacher and other professionals
- Contribute to assessment and planning by supporting the monitoring, recording, and reporting of learner outcomes and participation as agreed with the teacher
