ABC Mobility Group are looking to take on 2 new apprentices to be part of the apprenticeship programme and be trained as a CNC Machinist with ongoing support. You will part of your position operate industrial machinery, which can include a hydraulic press, grinder, borer or overhead crane.

  • Working week

    Monday - Thursday, 7.00am - 3.30pm with a 20 minute paid break and half an hour for lunch (unpaid). Friday, 07:00 - 14:00 p.m. with a paid 20 minute break and no lunch.

What you will do in your working day

  • Competently use the CNC machine
  • Fit the right tools to active machines
  • Perform proper set-up and calibration procedures for all equipment and accessories
  • Set tolerance levels and cutting speeds
  • Translate the requirements of detailed part drawings into measurements for production
  • Inspect workflows to ensure that technical and quality standards are met
  • Devise a work plan to efficiently carry out daily machining
  • To carve and shape plastics, metals and woods for production parts
  • A vital part of the role is ensuring the accuracy of the machinery

The training you will be getting

  • Level 3 Machining Technician Apprenticeship Standard, including Functional Skills if required
  • This apprenticeship includes the BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Machining) (Development Technical Knowledge)
  • You will work with expert assessors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession
  • You will experience a blended learning model
  • This programme is delivered via a day release delivery model which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at our engineering campus (NG17). This attendance is required during term time only
  • You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio
  • At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged
