What you will do in your working day

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities (but not limited to):

  • Precision machining of aerospace components to tight tolerances using appropriate methods; lathes, honing, drilling, turning, reaming
  • Self-inspection of work and completion of Quality Control documentation
  • Involvement in Continuous Improvement activities to improve the manufacturing process
  • Demonstrate and advance safe and environmentally responsible working practices

The training you will be getting

  • Level 3 Machining Technician apprenticeship standard, including Functional Skills if required.
  • This apprenticeship includes BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Machining) (Development Technical Knowledge).
  • You will work with expert assessors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession. You will experience a blended learning model.
  • This programme is delivered via a day release delivery model which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at our engineering campus in NG17. This attendance is required during term time only.
  • You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.
  • At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Upon successful completion of this programme, the employer will want to ensure that your knowledge and skills are kept up to date at all times. They will encourage you to take part in various training updates that may include Higher apprenticeships.
