Summary

We are seeking an apprentice Medical Receptionist to join our busy, friendly and experienced reception team whilst working towards a Level 2 Customer Service qualification.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

We are looking for an enthusiastic, professional and efficient individual who is well organised and self-motivated. The ideal candidate will possess excellent IT and customer service skills.

Working alongside a skilled, dedicated and supportive reception team, you will provide a comprehensive and efficient service to the practice population.

  • You will receive, assist and direct patients in accessing appropriate services or healthcare professionals in a courteous and welcoming manner
  • Demonstrate the principles of effective active signposting.
  • Provide administrative support to patients and practice staff
  • Be responsible for undertaking a number of administrative duties such as processing correspondence and supporting the management of clinical recall systems

The post-holder will be required to work flexibly to cover periods of sickness and annual leave.

Course contents
  • Use a range of questioning skills, including listening and responding in a way that builds rapport, determines customer needs and expectations and achieves positive engagement and delivery.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills, along with summarising language during face-to-face communications; and/or
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) during non-facing customer interactions.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
  • Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
  • Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate patience and calmness.
  • Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
  • Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.
  • Maintain informative communication during service recovery.

Your training plan

  • In addition to gaining practical experience in the role, you will also attain an NVQ Level 2 Customer Service qualification which will help start your career and give you an insight into the businesses processes and procedures
  • Our training is all completed remotely via teams with a development coach who will be available for support 24/7 and will arrange weekly/fortnightly meetings with you
  • You receive 20% off-the-job training during this apprenticeship which is included in your weekly working hours

GCSE in:
