Join us as a Manufacturing Technician Apprentice at Tosoh Quartz in Stanley! In this hands-on role, you'll be involved in the production, cutting, and cleaning of quartz components using a variety of machine tools and equipment. In this role you will monitor cutting processes and assess finished products to ensure they meet precise specifications.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
Daily duties will include:
- Maintain a safe, organised, and clean work area
- Following all health and safety procedures, including adherence to all PPE requirements
- Set up and operate production machines and equipment including CNC, saws, core drills, lapping and polishing machines and grinders
- Perform high level parts using hand tools
- Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to customer specifications
- Produce and detail various sized quartz (glass) parts to conform to specifications
- Work in accordance with process procedures, work order instructions, drawings, and other production documents
- Verify part or process conformance to specification
- Calibrate or adjust equipment to ensure quality production with approved inspection tools, such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, pin gages and comparators
- Perform detail work, which may include waxing, dewaxing, chamfering, acid wash or other cleaning, cosmetic inspection of parts and other similar functions
- Assists with troubleshooting problems with equipment, devices, or products
- Maintain measuring and machine equipment. Detecting and correcting, minor machine malfunctions and perform daily and monthly machine maintenance as directed
- Monitor and adjust production processes or equipment for quality and productivity
- Set up, operate, and perform routine maintenance
- Start up and shut down processing equipment

The successful candidate will be assigned a training consultant who will guide them through their apprenticeship and support them in gaining the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to successfully complete the apprenticeship. The training consultant well visit the workplace on a regular basis, and there will be no college release days needed. Working alongside the college, you will also receive ongoing training from the workplace to develop your skills set.

Other requirements
This role does include a lot of manual handling therefore candidates are required to be able to lift and extend with arms outstretched, up to 20 kgs. Candidates are required to be able to wear all required, company-provided safety gear during your shift. This includes goggles, aprons, boots, acid pants (optional), 2 sets of gloves, and a half mask or PAPR respirator.
