Summary

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Manage construction projects.
  • Plan, supervise and communicate with clients and subcontractors.
  • Deliver construction projects on time, staying in budget.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, electricians and other specialists.

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Course contents
  • Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
  • Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
  • Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
  • Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
  • Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
  • Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
  • Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.

Your training plan

  • Online learning to include guided discussions and workshops.
  • On site training from qualified Project Managers.
  • End Point Assessment.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade C/4 or above)
  • Maths (grade C/4 or above)

A Level in:

  • 2 subjects (grade C/4 or above)
