Summary

Studying towards a Level 3 Engineering Technician qualification, students will gain experience and understanding of electro-mechanical principals through work experience and theoretical knowledge. The apprentice will be carrying out a range of engineering operations. Jobs are offered to all of those who successfully complete this qualification.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

The engineering technician apprenticeship covers a range of topics, including:

  • Engineering principles
  • Technical mathematics
  • Computer-aided design (CAD)
  • Mechanical and electrical engineering
  • Apprentices will also learn about manufacturing processes, quality control, and maintenance, as well as health and safety regulations.

  • Level 3 Diploma in engineering technician (skills)
  • Level 3 Certificate or Diploma in engineering technician (knowledge)
  • Functional Skills in maths and English as required
  • Employee Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)
  • Training and training location to be confirmed
  • To gain a general understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles through a combination of on the job training and classroom/workshop based training in conjunction with The JCB Academy.

After this apprenticeship

Excellent prospects for progression within The Hex Group. Progression from Level 3 to Level 4 is a realistic ambition.

Many of our apprentices go on to further their careers in one of our businesses, and those with exceptionally high levels of drive and determination achieve a Level 4 qualification. We’ll even sponsor some of our graduate apprentices to complete a full degree.
