Summary

Develop your skills by working on real life projects whilst also being supported on a guided learning journey. This will be a 5-year apprenticeship where you will be put onto the Level 6 Manufacturing Engineering Apprenticeship Standard with a Materials pathway at Blackpool and the Fylde College.

The Salary is set at £15,000 per annum for the first year of the apprenticeship. It will then increase in the following years.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • During the Apprenticeship (1-5 years) College will be on a day release basis as required where you will study towards the Level 6 Manufacturing Engineering Apprenticeship Standard with a Materials pathway. Whilst in work you will sit within the Product Development Department and interact with all the relevant interfacing departments to gain all the specific skills and knowledge that you and our business needs.
  • Your final apprentice year will be the completion of the Level 6 degree including End Point Assessment (EPA) focusing on the completion of your dissertation, both at work and the college.
  • You will gain understanding of the principles, processing and testing of materials for use in Subsea Connectors and associated products.
  • Have the chance to work in a variety of departments and develop skills in manufacturing, testing, analysing, process and product fault diagnosis, and development.
  • Develop your planning, delivery, and quality skills by working alongside skilled professionals.
  • You will work with the relevant industry standards and specifications and ensure conformity.

  • Foundation Stage: Complying with statutory regulations and stringent organisational safety requirements
  • Foundation Stage: Producing components using hand fitting, fabrication and joining techniques
  • Foundation Stage: Producing Computer Aided Design (CAD) models (drawings) using a CAD system
  • Foundation Stage: Preparing and using lathes, milling and other general or specialist machines and high tech equipment
  • Foundation Stage: Preparing and proving Computer Numeric Control programmes
  • Foundation Stage: Using computer software packages to assist with and evaluate engineering activities
  • Foundation Stage: Producing and managing engineering project plans
  • Foundation Stage: Producing assemblies using a wide range of materials and techniques
  • Development Team: Project management and scheduling engineering activities
  • Development Team: Securing appropriate resources and managing budgets and resources
  • Development Team: Implementing, monitoring and evaluating engineering processes
