Summary

Kicks and Tricks Ltd are looking for a Schools Sports Coach to join the team to develop and enhance the company's vision of offering high-quality, accessible and fun sports to children in Suffolk. You will work alongside and report to our Head Coach, shadowing his work in schools and learning to develop your own skills and delivery.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • You will be supported throughout the apprenticeship through face-to-face masterclasses, online portfolio, assessments, virtual workshops, learning forums and skills coaching
  • You will deliver sessions in a school setting either in PE lessons, breakfast, lunch and after-school clubs across the week
  • The opportunity to support with midweek and weekend sports coaching sessions, that include football, netball, tennis, gymnastics, archery and dance & performing arts
  • You will be responsible for planning, preparing, delivering and evaluating your own sessions
  • You will participate in necessary webinars, workshops and online learning toolkits which will enhance your cognitive understanding of the role

  • Influence key stakeholders in the sporting context through own coaching philosophy and professional practice. 
  • Enhance coaching competencies and inter-intra-personal skills through continued professional development and self-awareness skills training.
  • Develop transformational coaching strategies and tactics that consider sector, sport, organisation and participants unique needs.
  • Comply with legal, ethical, effective and efficient coaching systems that align to the organisational vision, strategies, policies and processes.
  • Promote the value of the coaching team considering workforce structures and scopes including support staff, coaches, coaching assistants, and volunteers. 
  • Facilitate the development of the coaching team through due diligence, inductions, development and performance monitoring.
  • Deliver effective coaching services through industry support networks and a collaborative, cohesive and competent coaching team.
  • Design high quality curriculum that considers participants’ unique profiles, promotes ownership and informs micro, meso and macro plans as relevant to the sporting context.
  • Designs and delivers progressive programmes and selects coaching pedagogies that maximise engagement, whole child/person development and accelerates sustainable skill acquisition.
  • Delivers safe and effective coaching support to participants in practice, at events or competitions and influences learning and skill transfer across situations.

Your training plan

Sports Coach Level 4 Apprenticeship Standard:

  • The training programme will consist of online learning, webinars, practical workshops and workplace visits from the tutor
  • On completion of the programme, you will achieve a level 4 sports coach qualification
  • Functional Skills in English and maths if required

We are based in Stowmarket but deliver our sessions across a variety of schools and locations in Suffolk, often including Ipswich and Stowmarket.
