Summary

Exciting opportunity for a marketing apprentice to work in a small business in the sports/leisure industry. For a proactive, energetic and ambitious individual this is the chance to create your own role, helping to spread the brand and services of Water Babies to parents and organisations across Tees Valley, Durham and Darlington.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • The apprentice will work as part of our core office team, helping to support the Operations Director and the Sales Team to promote Water Babies swimming lessons across the area that we cover
  • Our aim is to grow the number of families who swim with Water Babies by 25% over the next 2 years
  • Plan events and drop-ins at various venues aimed at reaching parents/carers e.g. nurseries, playgroups, shops, play centres
    Review and manage our social media activity on Facebook and Instagram
  • Create a presence for us on Tik-Tok
  • Take photographs and develop content for our social media, newsletters and marketing materials
  • Create opportunities to promote Water Babies in print, radio and TV
  • Create opportunities with partners e.g. baby shops, nurseries, play groups to promote our swimming lessons. This might be leaflet swaps, sharing social media posts, advertising
    Control our stock of marketing collateral (banners, leaflets, promotional items) and look for new opportunities for these
  • Take leaflets, banners and posters to places that will promote Water Babies, including leaflet drops
  • Answering phone calls, general admin

Course contents
  • Develop or interpret briefs for external or internal stakeholders and measure delivery in-line with the specification and agreed timelines
  • Plan and coordinate a marketing activity using marketing tactics to acquire and retain one or more customer segments using available resources.
  • Contribute to the generation of innovative and creative approaches across video, images, and other formats, both online and offline, to support campaign development.
  • Use research/survey software to gather audience insight and/or evaluation to support the project.
  • Use copywriting techniques to write persuasive text/copy to meet a communications objective ensuring it is in-line with organisational brand guidelines.
  • Build and implement multi-channel campaigns across a variety of platforms, either offline or digital media.
  • Proofread marketing copy ensuring it is accurate, persuasive and is on brand.
  • Use software to design and create marketing assets to meet the technical specification.
  • Contribute to the research of external suppliers to support recommendations and procurement of marketing goods and services.
  • Organise offline and digital assets ensuring they are co-ordinated and legally compliant.
  • Use a website content management system to publish text, images, and video/animated content.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets to support marketing activities such as project/budget planning and organisation of marketing assets.
  • Use technology and software packages to support day to day activities, e.g., stakeholder communications, development of briefs, data analysis, report writing, presentations and project management.
  • Identify and use data and technologies to achieve marketing objectives.
  • Monitor and amend campaigns to meet budget requirements including time and monetary costs.
  • Review campaigns regularly to ensure effectiveness, to optimise the results.
  • Measure and evaluate campaign delivery to identify areas for improvement.
  • Use data analysis tools to record, interpret and analyse customer or campaign data.
  • Your training plan

    • On completion of the apprenticeship the apprentice will achieve a Level 3 Marketing apprenticeship qualification
    • 1 day per week at College (day release)

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE in:

    • Maths and English (grade 4)

    Other requirements

    The position will include working from different leisure facilities where we deliver our swimming lessons, as well as from our 2 office sites. A can-do, will-do attitude and a willingness to learn as part of a team are a must. Ability to manage your own time and be mobile in order to reach our venues across the patch.

    After this apprenticeship

    • On completion of the apprenticeship we are looking for this to be a permanent role within our business after the completion of the apprenticeship
    • There is also the opportunity for the apprentice to undertake Water Babies Teacher Training, creating opportunities for them to work evenings and/or weekends to earn additional income
