Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Mama Bear's Day Nursery is currently recruiting for an Early Years Apprentice to join our friendly setting based in Paignton. Our nursery is located on Long Road and is a lovely purpose-built facility offering outstanding childcare for all families in Paignton and the surrounding area.
You will work alongside trained practitioners who will support and mentor you to ensure that you fulfil your potential and become the best practitioner you can be. Mama Bear's Day Nursery will be behind you every step of the way where you will also be supported by a local training provider who will come to the setting to meet and assess your progress.
Duties at work can include:
- Ensuring a safe and clean environment for children's learning.
- Teaching and facilitating children's learning play.
- Using technology to update systems
You do not need any previous experience to apply to work as an apprentice, the only requirements are:
- Not in full-time education/any other funded training
- EU resident for past 3 years
- Candidates must be able to display a level of maturity

You will be trained both in the workplace and whilst attending your one day per week Off-The-Job college day at South Devon College.
Training will include:

Requirements
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade 4)
- Maths (grade 4)
Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.

After this apprenticeship
At the end of the apprenticeship the apprentice may apply for a permanent position within the company in the normal way – employment is not guaranteed at the end of the course.
