Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

General yard duties will include;

  • Mucking out
  • Tacking up and tack cleaning
  • Bringing in and turning out
  • Clipping/pulling/trimming/plaiting
  • Bathing
  • Schooling
  • Exercising horses (including lunging, horse walker, long reining)
  • Bandaging
  • Rug changing
  • Holding for vet/farrier/dentist
  • Paddock maintenance

There is no accommodation available. This role will also require working in all weather conditions so any applicant must be willing and able to do this.

The Stables at Cissbury provides both lessons and hacking within the stunning, South Downs National Park. Located on the Cissbury Estate we have direct access to Cissbury Ring where views stretch from Chanctonbury Ring in the North to the English Channel in the South. We have a full size riding arena and qualified instructors. The beautiful vintage inspired stable yard is home to a number of well schooled horses and ponies. We also provide corporate, team building, retreat days and breaks all set within a traditional atmosphere.
