Summary

Tor View Roofing is a small expanding business based in Bovey Tracey. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who is looking to work alongside our team, whilst studying at South Devon College on the Roofing level 2 apprenticeship course.

Annual wage
£13,312 a year

Minimum wage rates (opens in new tab)

National Apprenticeship wage (depending on age) for the first year. This will be reviewed in year 2 depending on progress.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

No experience is necessary, full training will be given on site. Training will be given both on & off-site with the opportunity to specialise in areas that you enjoy the most and wish to progress with within the company. If you have no fear of heights, can handle working outside in all weathers and want to keep fit without paying for a gym membership then this may be for you!! Apprentice will learn amongst other skills:

  • Installing a variety of roof coverings being able to adapt and use logical thinking
  • Install preformed lead and proprietary flashings whilst effectively communicating with others
  • Install dry/wet finished detail adapting between products
  • Install roof windows and flashing using appropriate decision making/logical thinking.
  • Using teamwork to Install insulation/ventilation for warm and cold roof construction
  • Tool box talk

After full training you will be competent in, and have a good understanding of:

  • Health and safety in the workplace
  • Roofing terminology
  • How to take down and replace various types of slates and tiles
  • How to install underlay, batten and other roofing materials
  • Using a variety of hand and power tools
  • Lead welding
  • Installling window and ventilation products
