We have an exciting new opportunity available with KwikTuf who are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join their team as an engineering machine operator and maintenance apprentice. This is an excellent opportunity for the right person to join a successful company and gain an engineering qualification.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Working alongside the glass cutting team you will develop an understanding and knowledge of glass variations in terms of coatings, patterns and applications.

Working to a high degree of accuracy and quality, you will learn how to handle glass safely and cut glass of various types, shapes and thicknesses, using automated CNC Optimisation Equipment, as well as manual techniques.

This includes the creation of technical drawings, using the ICam system. Training will also eventually extend to the use of mechanical handling equipment such as the Overhead Crane, Vacuum Lifting Equipment and Fork Lift Truck.

The successful applicant will:

  • Be methodical with a high attention to detail
  • Be able to work as part of a small team as well as on their own initiative
  • Have excellent communication skills, good IT skills and preferably an interest in science and engineering
  • Have good core GCSEs are essential
  • Have enthusiasm for and interest in engineering
  • Be commitment to the work and maintaining and developing the organisation’s reputation and customer base
  • Have the ability to work with others and enjoy team working
  • Be pro-active and positive attitude applied to all tasks – large and small
  • Work accurately with high precision
  • Follow instruction and work to schedule
  • Maximise own productivity and make efficient use of time
  • Be flexible – able to work across a number of different machines and adapt daily routine according to changing customer demands

  • Undertake installation, testing, servicing, removal, replacement, maintenance and repair of a range of equipment.
  • Undertake planned, preventative and reactive maintenance of machines and equipment
  • Ensure your work is completed safely, meets quality standards, time and budget requirements, whilst maintaining the efficient running of the factory and equipment

  • 7 hour training day a week within Hull Training will take place at Hull Training's Enigneering Centre on a day release basis. Address: Hull TEC, Danepark Road, Hull, HU6 9DX
