Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Day to day duties include:
- General engineering support for mechanical and Pump departments
- Booking in of jobs and producing relevant documentation
- Making improvements to process and maintaining/improving documentation
- Producing technical reports and quotations
- Video reporting
- Purchasing and sourcing of parts
- Making improvements to shop tooling and better control of stock and inventory
- CAD/drawing support
- Sourcing new suppliers and maintaining existing ones, developing working relationships with them so they can support us better
- Sourcing materials/spares prices for quotations
- Supplier site visits to get a better understanding of what they can offer and then passing that on to the Ops team
- Purchase order progress chasing
- Answering phone calls and dealing with customer enquiries

This is a Level 3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship, Technical Support pathway, delivered over a period of 4 years.
Mandatory qualifications:
- Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Technical Support
- Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
The apprentice will attend the training centre, In-Comm Training Services in Aldridge, WS9 8UG, 2.5 days per week for the first two years, and the company for the rest of the time.
