A fantastic opportunity to work as part of a well-established team at OCL based in Swindon, near Kingswinford. You will be working alongside the sales team providing administrative and customer service support as well building and continuously developing the company social media network and adding value by selling and promoting products online.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Duties to include:

  • To build and continuously grow and develop the marketing of the business via Social Media pages to positively impact sales
  • Accurately determining the date customer orders will be required and placing orders with suppliers so that a complete and on time delivery (COTIF) is maintained
  • Use of the email system, company mobile telephone and landline to communicate with suppliers, customers and other members of staff
  • Liaising with customers, staff and suppliers and ensuring that the order/supply process runs smoothly
  • Selling products to customers profitably by determining their needs and technical requirements either from the items displayed or by promoting goods from brochures or the Internet
  • Accurately processing customer orders in the showroom using a Microsoft Excel based ordering system and a Sage based invoicing system
  • Taking either a deposit of full payment by cash, cheque or electronic card machine and always issuing a receipt whenever a payment is made
  • Answering the telephone where necessary and dealing with customer/supplier enquiries in a professional manner

  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
  • Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
  • Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate patience and calmness.
  • Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
  • Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.
  • Maintain informative communication during service recovery.

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE or equivalent in:

    • English and Maths (grade A*-C/9-4 or Level 2 FS)
