Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Your day-to-day duties will include:
- Attending to the pupil's personal needs and implement related personal programmes, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters
- Supervising and support pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning.
- Establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs
- Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
- Encouraging pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher
- Encouraging pupils to act independently as appropriate
- Being a good role model through effective communication and interactions with all pupils
- Having awareness of the Early Years Curriculum, KS1 or KS2, (as appropriate) key values and importance of learning through play.
- Supporting pupils in respect of local and national learning strategies e.g. literacy, numeracy, early years, as directed by the teacher
- Supporting pupils to understand instructions
- Supporting pupils in using basic ICT as directed
- Preparing and maintaining equipment/resources as directed by the teacher and assisting pupils in their use

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
