Do you have a passion for flowers and a knack for making people smile? We're looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Customer Service Practitioner Apprentice to join our vibrant flower shop. In this role, you'll be the heart of our customer experience, helping people find the perfect blooms for every occasion.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

You will work toward the Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship with the support of a tutor, whilst learning on the job how to deliver great customer service in the floristry sector.

Responsibilities:

Welcome customers warmly and create a positive and inviting atmosphere.

Actively listen to customer needs and preferences to assist them to purchase flowers appropriate to their requirements.

Process customer orders accurately and efficiently, both in-store and over the phone.

Communicate care instructions to ensure customers get the most out of their flowers.

Serve customers drinks and cake in the tea room.

Keep tables clean and tidy ready for the next customer.

Handle cash and credit card transactions professionally.

Maintain a clean and organised shop floor.

Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.

Personal Qualities:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

A friendly and helpful demeanour.

A genuine passion for flowers and a desire to learn more.

Retail experience is a plus.

Basic computer literacy is required.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

  • Use a range of questioning skills, including listening and responding in a way that builds rapport, determines customer needs and expectations and achieves positive engagement and delivery.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills, along with summarising language during face-to-face communications; and/or
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) during non-facing customer interactions.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
  • Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
  • Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate patience and calmness.
  • Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
  • Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.

    Blooms of Thorpe Day is an established local family run florist, we have been delivering flowers for twenty three years.  Offering traditional or bespoke arrangements and tributes for weddings, funerals, corporate events and special occasions.

    A permanent position may be offered upon successful completion of the apprenticeship. Opportunity to learn and develop within the company. Progression on to higher apprenticeship / training.
