Summary

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of a new or existing residential home specialising in meeting the needs of individual young people. You'll spearhead the effective management of either a new or existing residential home, specialising in meeting the unique needs of individual young people.

Annual wage
£40,000 a year

Minimum wage rates (opens in new tab)

£40,000 to £50,000 depending on experience and qualification, OTE up to £70,000

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

In this role, you will manage all aspects of the day-to-day running of the home, including:

  • To Register a new home with OFSTED and work towards obtaining a ‘good’ or above with OFTED
  • To work with HR to recruit and develop a new team for the Home
  • Planning and delivering quality support to young people
  • Establishing and maintaining effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Developing and managing an efficient team of staff
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations
  • Managing resources effectively and reporting concerns as needed
  • Implementing and managing administrative systems as required

Are you the right person for the job?

  • Experience as an acting Home Manager or Deputy Manager in a children’s home
  • Two years' recent experience in children’s/young people’s residential care
  • Proficiency in working with young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties and a strong grasp of therapeutic strategies
  • Sound knowledge of relevant Looked After Children (LAC) procedures
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent, or actively pursuing this qualification

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4 or Above)
  • Maths (grade 4 or Above)
