Summary

We are looking to expand our talented team in the plastic injection moulding department. You will be trained in all aspects of injection moulding and Operation of CNC machinery. You will be quality checking products and assembling them.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Plastech Thermoforming Ltd are seeking an enthusiastic & focused apprentice CNC machine operator to join our busy CNC production team. Duties & training will include:

  • Accurately selecting & scanning programs for trimmed parts over a 2-bed production run
  • Locating & setting production jigs onto the machinery

Tile tests

  • First-off quality checks
  • Accurate completion of works order paperwork
  • Monitoring of machinery during production
  • Continuous quality monitoring of parts
  • Packaging & labelling according to specifications
  • Changing & measuring cutter inserts
  • Hand Trimming using various saws and cutters
  • Liaison with the department Lead to resolve issues
  • Maintaining cleanliness of machinery & working area
  • Controlled removal of scrap
  • Adherence to health & safety practices
  • Adherence to quality standards

Other duties & training may include work in various other areas of the factories such as assembly & injection moulding.

After this apprenticeship

For the right candidate on the completion is a full time role with a couple of pathways:

Lead Operator

Organise effective use of available labour & machine allocation, monitor production, document completion & department schedules/tasks,  resolve production, program & machinery issues, provide comprehensive training to operatives, update & maintain training records, communicate with & contribute to shift handovers, daily authorisation of operative working hours.

Coordinator

Plan change-overs efficiently according to production plans, deliver jigs & parts for all operators using a forklift and/or pallet truck, prepare & issue paperwork for all operators, control movement of production stock in and out of the department through accurate data input & relocation, report accurate daily production figures, carry out forklift checks, communicate with & contribute to shift handovers.
