Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
We are looking for a motivated Patternshop Apprentice to join our team and train under a Senior Pattern Maker. This role offers a unique opportunity to learn the craft of making soft Ureol tools, CNC & assembly fixtures in a hands-on environment, contributing to the production of high-quality components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Senior Pattern Maker in creating and modifying patterns.
- Learn and apply pattern making techniques.
- Operating 5-axis CNC machine.
Pattern Making:
- Learn and apply techniques for drafting, cutting, and assembling patterns.
- Use tools and equipment safely and effectively under supervision.
- Ensure patterns meet specifications and quality standards.
Material Handling:
- Select and prepare appropriate materials for pattern making.
- Maintain inventory of materials and supplies.
Quality Control:
- Inspect patterns for defects or inconsistencies.
- Make adjustments and repairs as needed to ensure high-quality outputs.
Documentation:
- Keep accurate records of patterns created and modified.
- Document processes and techniques for future reference.
Maintenance:
- Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of pattern making tools and equipment.
- Ensure the pattern shop is clean, organized, and safe.

At Plas-Tech, we are the only fully independent thermoforming specialist plastics manufacturer that can offer the full suite of services in-house. For Vacuum Forming, we offer prototyping to full-scale production with in-house tooling for both Ureol (Prototype Tools) and aluminium (Production Tools) along with the highest quality standard of component manufacture. For Injection Moulding, we can manufacture Rapid Prototyping and Production intent Injection Moulding Tools in our in-house tooling facility, we machine from Mild or Hardened Steel. We will then continue your project into full-scale production on our new fleet of Injection Moulding machines which range from 60-320 Tonnes in press size.

Pattern Maker: Progress to full-time role, creating and modifying complex tools & fixtures with greater responsibility.
CNC Programmer/Operator: Transition into computer-aided design and manufacturing, operating CNC machines for precise pattern making.
