Summary

Springfield Academy have an exciting opportunity, we are looking to appoint enthusiastic, pro-active and well-motivated people for the position of Apprentice Teaching Assistant.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

We are looking for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant Apprentice to join our team.  We need someone to work with children across the early years team. We need ambitious and driven candidates with a passion for helping children learn effectively. Everyone who visits our academies comments on the calm atmosphere, the enthusiasm our children have for learning and the great sense of team amongst staff and children alike.  In our Trust we value every individual and put our children at the heart of everything we do.

The Successful Candidates Will:

  • Support in preparing the classroom and resources for learning
  • Be creative and have a passion for working with children
  • Motivate and inspire children to learn
  • Have an approachable and confident manner, able to communicate with a wide variety of people including our children.
  • Be able to promote a positive ethos and be a role model to our children
  • Have the confidence to support our children in a 1:1 situation, in the classroom and in small groups
  • Be able to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Have a willingness to learn and commit to their apprenticeship
  • Foster the participation of pupils in the social and academic processes of the academy
  • Contribute to the wider team in its aim to raise standards of achievement for all pupils
  • Support pupils to become more independent learners

Course contents
  • Apply strategies to support and encourage the development of independent learners.
  • Adapt communication strategies for the audience and context.
  • Apply behaviour management strategies in line with organisational policy.
  • Adapt resources to support all learners.
  • Communicate with teachers to ensure clarity of the TA’s role.
  • Apply teaching strategies to deliver learning activities or interventions.
  • Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals and stakeholders.
  • Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
  • Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
  • Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
  • Apply methods of formative assessment.
  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE or equivalent in:

    • English (grade 9 - 4)
    • Math (grade 9 - 4)
