Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the finance team at our head office site in Macclesfield. We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, apprentice who is looking for their first role in a Finance department in a leading produce supplier.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

The duties will be varied and cover all aspects of the finance function. This includes:

  • Preparation of weekly wages information
  • Invoice processing
  • Data entry to Sage, Microsoft AX and Xero
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparation of VAT returns and overseas VAT returns
  • Preparation of ad hoc management information
  • Liaising with Company auditors

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

    An Accounts or finance assistant is an integral part of the team responsible for maintaining an efficient and accurate finance function within a business. The Accounts or finance assistant is responsible for assisting the team of accountants with junior accounting duties. It takes approximately 15 months to complete the apprenticeship and you will receive a blended method of learning including online learning and attending live online workshops, working towards achieving nationally recognised qualifications in:

    • Level 2 Accounts / Finance Assistant Apprenticeship Standard

    GCSE in:

    • Maths and English (grade 4 or C)
    • 3 subjects (grade A-C)
