Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Interacting with children, helping to support development, and role modelling positive behaviour
- Planning activities and updating tapestry (online learning journal)
- Liaising with parents
- Reporting any Health and Safety issues to line manager
- To report any safeguarding concerns to the relevant person

Course contents
Your training plan
- You will be working towards your Early Years/Childcare Level 3 qualification (an industry recognised qualification) which is delivered via monthly 2-3-hour lessons with your assigned Trainer Assessor (TA) via teams
- Throughout the month, you will complete self-led study which will include assignments, worksheets, projects, etc. and blended learning and development activities/training with your manager and shadowing team members. All learning will be completed in your workplace and during your working hours
- Units that you will be studying include continued professional development, speech & language, equality & diversity, partnership working, planning & implementing activities for children, learning development, observations, & theories, safeguarding, supporting positive behaviour, health, safety, & welfare, and transitions

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- Maths and English (grade 4)
- Childcare (grade Pass)

About this company
The Elms Junior School is a co-educational, independent day school for 4 to 11-year-olds. The Elms Pre-School and Nursery welcomes children from 6 weeks to 4 years old. You’ll be joining a friendly and supportive environment where you can encourage children to learn whilst also developing yourself!
