An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of the largest independent ambulance services, dedicated to advancing excellence in pre-hospital care and event medicine as an Associate Ambulance Practitioner Apprentice.

Your annual salary will be uplifted throughout the apprenticeship upon successful achievements of key thematic reviews. After successful completion and with a offer of a substantive contract, your annual salary will increase to £40,000.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- The Associate Ambulance Practitioner (AAP) works as part of the wider Emergency & Urgent Care setting, having direct contact with service users or others, providing high quality and compassionate care
- Day to day duties and tasks for an AAP would involve working as part of an ambulance crew responding to emergency (999) & urgent calls providing emergency and urgent assistance, driving safely and progressively at high speed
- Will assess, treat and manage service users at the scene (reducing the need for hospital admission), either referring service users to alternative care provisions or safely discharging them on scene
- Other tasks involve working closely with other emergency services and the wider NHS
- Tasks of an AAP will include evaluating different approaches to solving problems, communicating those results accurately and reliably, with structured and coherent arguments
- Will work under the supervision of a Registered Practitioner in accordance with Regulatory policies and procedures for an initial probationary period of 20 weeks
- After successful completion the AAP will be accountable for their own actions, operating within their own scope of practice, and will work alongside professional colleagues of higher or lower grades

Level 4 Associate Ambulance Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard:
- On-the-job training will be based from one of our operating ambulance stations located in Braintree, Chelmsford or Norwich
- Off-the-job and On-the-job training will be provided by Medicare EMS Group UK Limited. Our EMS Academy is situated within the beautiful grounds of Park View Baddow Park Estate, West Hanningfield Road, Great Baddow, Chelmsford, Essex, CM2 7SY

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade 9 to 4 or A to C)
- Maths (grade 9 to 4 or A to C)

Other requirements
You will need to hold a Full UK driving licence (minimum of 12 months ) with no restrictions and less than 6 Endorsement Points. You will also need a D4 medical, which is an examination that consists of an eyesight test, blood pressure and a questionnaire regarding your medical history. All to ensure you meet the DVLA group 2 standard.

After this apprenticeship
- Apprentices will be offered a guaranteed interview for an Associate Ambulance Practitioner role upon successful completion of the apprenticeship. This role attracts an annual salary of £40,000
- Further learning and development opportunities are available, including progression into a Level 6 Paramedic Degree Apprenticeship (subject to vacancies)
