Summary

We are a small family run ground care machinery business with 6 employees. The job would involve servicing and repairing all ground care equipment Inc. mowers, strimmer's, hedge cutters, robotic mowers, etc.

Annual wage
£13,312 a year

Hourly pay. Above minimum apprentice wage. Performance related pay rises annually.

Hours
Monday - Thursday 7.30am - 4pm, Friday 7.30am - 3pm. 30-mins lunch break, 3-hrs compulsory overtime per week. Paid bank holidays. 40 hours maximum for under 18-year-olds, 42 hours per week for over 18 years old.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Hands on servicing and repairing garden machinery including robotic mowers and a wide range of commercial ground care equipment
  • Learning to support technicians install and repair robotic mowers on site
  • Working with light agricultural and sports turf machinery
  • Developing metal working and fabrication skills

Course contents
  • Select and apply appropriate tools and equipment, demonstrate dexterity, resourcefulness, and a professional approach to service engineering practice.
  • Maintain and conduct basic repairs and maintenance activities on power units, and power trains, mechanical equipment, plant and machinery and their associated systems and components either under supervision or following procedures and service schedules prepared by the manufacturer or employer.
  • Thermally and chemically join metals and materials.
  • Access and interpret technical data relating to service and maintenance operations in accordance with the manufacturer’s documentation.
  • Communicate with customers and colleagues expressing technical information in clear concise terms whilst demonstrating customer care principles.
  • Work efficiently both under supervision, individually and as a team member.
  • Demonstrate a logical, safe and systematic approach to work practices.
  • Carry out operational tests on low technology plant, equipment and machinery.
  • Communicate using a range of methods. This will include delivering oral and written reports to colleagues and customers regarding the work carried out on equipment
  • Your training plan

    • Training provided at Wiltshire College
    • 2-week block release, 5 times a year for 18 - 24 months

    We are a small, family run Garden Machinery business based in Broughton, near Stockbridge. We sell and service all sorts of garden machinery, sports turf machinery, large and small tractors and a large range of exciting robotic mowers for lawns and large open spaces. It is very important for us to provide good personal sales advice and service for local customers, we value a friendly and reliable approach for all our customers, therefore communication and good presentation is particularly important. We are looking for new talent to join our fantastic team, ideally a school leaver.
