Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

A fantastic opportunity to join a fun and friendly team undertaking a wide variety of industry tasks.

Duties will include;

  • Assisting on daily day care walks.
  • Setting up for the day
  • Supervising the dogs
  • Ensuring environmental enrichment and welfare whilst in day care.
  • Assist with dog training.
  • Helping on lunch group walks when required.
  • Bathing dogs and general grooming.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the day care to a high standard.
  • Serving customers in the shop.
  • Cleaning and ensuring the day to day requirements are met.
  • Merchandising stock, social media and advertising.

Training

Course contents

Your training plan

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
  • The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Animal Care & Welfare Apprenticeship Standard.
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
  • The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.

Desirable qualifications

GCSE in:

  • Maths and English (grade C or 4)
