Summary

The role of an Assistant Financial Accountant is to support the Finance team at Regent’s Park Healthcare, by ensuring that financial accounting and reporting is delivered in an efficient, timely and accurate manner at the highest possible standard. Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Preparing monthly accrual, prepayment and P&L related schedules.
  • Preparing analyses of ledger accounts.
  • Reviewing and responding to account payable and account receivable queries as required.
  • Processing invoices and ledger entries into accounts as required.
  • Prepare and support the annual audit for the group and corporate entities, includes liaising with auditors and resolving queries throughout the audit.
  • Support preparation of statutory returns such as the Year End Accounts and VAT Returns for all RPH entities.
  • Assist with the Budget and Forecasting processes.
  • Daily banking, payment allocation and updating of cash receipts.
  • Debtor management which includes chasing debt via email, telephone and the use of Money Claims to recover any outstanding monies.
  • Liaising with Private Medical Insurers and responding to billing queries.
  • Support the Senior Management Team with projects and ad hoc analysis.
  • Actively look for process and control improvements and where possible implement them with support and guidance from the Head of Finance.
  • Seek to introduce new and improved management information for clinic performance evaluation.
  • Responsible for issuing the weekly dashboard data set with commentary to managers and assisting with Business Development, this includes project appraisal and developing business cases.
  • To adopt a Business Partner role at our clinics to ensure all finance functions are maintained and that all data is all recorded accurately.  
  • To reconcile allocated balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis and flag up any issues.
  • To communicate effectively with people in the business, external stakeholders and patients.
  • Respond to finance related queries and provide high quality customer service across the company.

Course contents
  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

    Other requirements

    Must be able to get to and from the place of work in a safe and timely manner. There are frequent bus services from Salisbury, Ringwood and Bournemouth with the bus stop only 200 yards from the current office in Downton. Once the move to Salisbury is completed, the office will be in city centre location with free, on-site car parking and less than a 5 min walk from most bus stops OR a 10 min walk from railway station.
