Summary

You will join a finance team with your own areas of work to focus on but also provide support to the team. As well as regular tasks there are adhoc projects to work on to help develop skills and gain a full understanding within finance. By joining a family owned business you will gain a wide experience of roles, while being part of a small team.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

· Bank Reconciliations and entering details onto the accounting system

· Supplier rebate reconciliation and analysis

· Liaise with other teams within the company and with external suppliers

· Review and post entries for petty cash

· Ad hoc Invoices and credit notes to process

· Various month end reports to produce and review

· Support rest of finance team with various tasks

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

    About this company

    MP Moran is a family run business supplying Building and Plumbing products. The first branch was opened by Micheal Moran in 1976 on Kilburn High Road. Through his own experience he saw that it was difficult to purchase all his building material needs under one roof so he decided to open a builders merchants that would offer a one stop shop for all building products.
