Summary

You’ll support the Sales Ledger team process, maintain the Sales Ledger and support the financial function, including processing invoices accurately and handling customer receipts. All within a friendly team working environment, working toward your AAT Level 2 qualification and starting your career in finance!

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Raise Sales invoices - Service
  • Chase overdue debt in a timely manner to reduce debtors’ day
  • Process new customer applications forms and complete the required credit checks
  • Apply for Credit Insurance, ensuring the company risk is kept to a minimum
  • Send Customer Statements monthly
  • Liaise with customers to resolve queries in a timely manner
  • Allocate customer receipts on Xero / Sage
  • Ensure the correct VAT treatment is applied to invoices, including DRC
  • Work closely with the finance team to improve processes and controls within the Sales Ledger function
  • Adhere to EA-RS social values whilst undertaking all business tasks

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Your training plan

    You will attend / complete:

    • 1-2-1 Lessons (via teams) with a Dedicated Skills Coach
    • Interactive online Enhanced Classrooms with BPP
    • 6 Hours of your working week spent on apprenticeship work e.g., assignments, independent study, training and development activities

    Modules will include:

    • Understanding Your Organisation
    • Accounting Systems & Processes
    • Basic Accounting
    • Ethical Standards

    The Level 2 AAT includes a Mandatory Qualification ‘Certificate in Accounting’ made up of 4 modules / exams:

    • Introduction to Bookkeeping
    • Principles of Bookkeeping Controls
    • Principles of Costing
    • The Business Environment

    Modules are studied independently (in work time) supported by a Dedicated AAT Tutor.

    GCSE in:

    • English (grade 4)
    • Maths (grade 5)
