Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Support the maintenance and administration of the Safety, Health and Environment management systems including the associated documentation
- Attend and engage with training, including exams and 1-2-1 meetings with your tutors/assessor/line manager
- Manage your time effectively to complete all coursework, assignments and exams required to achieve the apprenticeship
- Act as a primary point of contact, handling day to day issues relating to SHE topics, and escalating where required
- Assist the monitoring and reporting of system element data (training, accidents, near misses, objectives & targets etc.) and support the implementation of appropriate actions to continuously improve performance
- Provide support and guidance with the creation of risk assessments and method statements across the business
- Support the investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses including analysis and reporting as required by the Safety, Health and Environment Manager
- Support the completion of audits against internal procedures, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, in accordance with the audit schedule
- Assist in monthly reviews of legislation relating to Safety, Health and Environment and investigate/report any changes that may have an impact on the company
- Collect, process, analyse and report data (management system KPIs, waste, packaging, energy consumption etc.)
- Assist the preparation and administration of Safety, Health and Environment Technician Apprentice emergency procedures including regular preparedness drills
- ssist in the creation and delivery of in-house Safety, Health and Environment training material to employees
- Undertake regular inspections at HORIBA premises and report findings in relation to, but not limited to, first aid kits, emergency lighting, waste management, fire equipment etc.
- Assist with safety inspections at customer premises as necessary, ensuring that the required actions are reported and completed or escalated as appropriate
- Administer online system tools to aid employee Safety, Health and Environment training, vehicle and driving licence checks. This includes the requirement to handle confidential and personal information
- Maintain and update Safety, Health and Environment information on SharePoint sites
- Support the company Health & Safety Committee and Environmental Awareness Team with projects and initiatives
- Provide support to the Facilities Manager regarding the Safety, Health and Environment management of contractors
- Proactively promote and follow Safety, Health and Environment practices
- To take part in continuous improvement initiatives and projects To promote and embed the HORIBA organisational charter in all aspects of work
- To be flexible and to carry out or assist any other tasks in accordance with departmental and organisational needs
- To undertake appropriate national/international travel as required by the role
