The children, staff and governors of Hertsmere Jewish Primary School are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant. This position offers hands-on experience in the classroom while working towards a recognized qualification.

Annual wage: £9,984 a year

Hours: Monday - Thursday, 8.30am - 3.30pm and Friday, 8:30am - 3.00pm

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

You will work closely with the class teacher and the school’s SENCo.

Duties:

Supervising class activities
Assisting with young people’s learning experience
Helping students who might need extra support
Learning classroom-based skills and behaviour techniques
Planning sessions and thinking about learning objectives
Working alongside the teacher to support classroom activities

Support the well-being and mental health of learners.

Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.

Apply methods of formative assessment.

Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.

Encourage safe use of technology by learners.

Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).

Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.

Provide feedback to learners.

GCSE in:
