Summary
We are looking to strengthen our experienced team and require a dedicated and flexible Apprentice Teaching Assistant, who has a passion for teaching and learning and supports pupils in their learning.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
The post requires a well motivated apprentice who is enthusiastic, patient and calm. The successful candidate will need to be able to work closely with the class teacher and as part of a wider team.
The successful candidate will:
- Be an excellent communicator
- Work consistently well independently or as part of a team
- Supervise and support pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning
- Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
- Develop positive behaviour management strategies
- Be creative and play an active role in building a safe and happy learning environment with the child’s well-being and progress at heart

Behaviours, Skills & Knowledge - Functional Skills in maths and English at level 2 (if not already exempt through prior qualifications)
- You will have regular visits at the workplace from a designated assessor to observe your progress and competence in the role you are carrying out
- Training will be one day a month at Plymouth Argyle

Essential qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in:
- English (grade 4-9 (A*-C))
- Math (grade 4-9 (A*-C))
